Our business underwent massive changes from a plant shutdown to the sale of the business and relocation. After the sale of the business, we underwent further restructuring. I’m super excited to be starting a new role on Tuesday, but before I move to the next chapter in my career, I want to acknowledge Reddin Group, and particularly Merran, for their work in supporting me through my transition.

I first met Merran when she delivered a two-day workshop to assist a number of us in preparing for entry into the job market. She broke down all the steps of putting a resume together, and we talked about interview techniques and the presentation of our skills and experience. These were all the mechanics of applying for roles and, as it turned out, the easy bit.

When it came to the emotional roller coaster that is the job market, Merran was such an enormous support, always taking my calls and offering timely advice. When I was applying and not getting interviews, we met and reworked my introductory letter. Nothing was too much trouble.

So often, we encounter people who do an amazing job, and while it is great to thank the individual, the message doesn’t go any further. The Reddin team had been used to help us with a small number of sensitive outplacement exercises in NSW over a period of time. Because we found them to be so responsive and supportive, not only of the team members leaving the organisation but also our managers, we retained them to work on a major restructuring exercise right around Australia, in both city and country locations.

Reddin was involved right from the start. They worked with us and our legal team, they worked with us on the consultation period, and they planned a roll-out of a range of programs nationally for almost 300 staff. David personally trained our managers in delivering bad news and put in a program about managing “survivors.” They had experienced consultants on the ground exactly where we needed them when we needed them despite the different time zones. Very importantly, their programs worked! Of our 300 departing team members, over 90% had found alternative employment within 3 to 4 months. There was no union action and zero claims of unfair dismissal. Our managers felt supported.

Impressively, the Reddin team was able to highlight to us several areas of weakness in our HR systems where we had failed to capture data around employees who might have been seen to be at risk. They galvanised expert support around those individuals quickly and effectively and helped them make transitions into new roles. Very impressive. I continue to use Reddin to this day.
